CALLING ALL LOVERS OF RETRO ART-POP AND DREAMY GOOD TIMES; POTENT PERTH PURVEYORS OF SONIC PROPULSION GAZEY ARE BACK WITH ANTHEMIC GUSTO WITH THEIR BRAND NEW TRACK 'RIVER' OUT THIS WEEK.

Building towards their debut full-length 'Sole' later this year, the synth pop lords known as Gazey have spent the past few years progressing their mutual love of 1970s and early 80s production while relentlessly gigging their wares along the way. And while their fusion of lo-fi, synth-tastic sonic delights hint at their idols both old and new (including the likes of ELO, Yes, Toro Y Moi and Blood Orange), Gazey conjure levels of slick understatement with their softly warped and warming tones that play homage just enough without treading into full-blown imitation, as seen particularly on their their latest track 'River'.

Part New Order love-letter, part rousing anthem, 'River' finds the Gazey lads in a glassy world of analogue synths, frizzy guitars and muscly beats that captures the essence seen on the group's previous releases, while also emphatically exploring some deeply personal themes about relationships, empathy and familial roles, as vocalist/songwriter Josiah Padmanabham explains: 'Amidst our clumsy and awkward attempts in love...we should want our others to move beyond the patterns we ascribe to each other'.

Never ones to subscribe to conventions and norms, Gazey have once again struck a balance between hypnotic ear-worm and poignant floor filler with 'River', and sets up more scintillating insights into what awaits us in October with their forthcoming LP.

'River' officially drops this Thursday 11th July, but you can catch an exclusive sneak peek below with The Soundcheck. Gazey will also be launching their new baby this Thursday at their Hidden Treasures set in Fremantle.
