SINGLE When The Warden Calls // ARTIST SODA

There's something bewitching in the soda with the swoon-worthy new single from Adelaide quartet SODA and their brand new track When The Warden Calls.

Attracting comparisons to the likes of Methyl Ethel and Nothing But Thieves while holding inspiration to alt and art-rock icons including Radiohead and Jeff Buckley, there's just something about SODA and their inescapably likeable sound. And while only in existence for a relatively short time, the group have come out swinging with a lush and languid new tune in the shape of When The Warden Calls (aka WTWC).

Merging hypnotic vocals with dreamy guitars and driving beats, When The Warden Calls is seemingly simple but convincingly executed, certainly conjuring the hooky rock aspects of Nothing But Thieves with an immersive soul of whirling textures and subtle force. And forming Part 2/Act 1 of the concept EP How to Navigate Your breathing', When The Warden Calls balances its chirpy vibes with some darker narratives:

“When the Warden Calls is an exploration into the anxieties of long term addiction and its effect on your mental health, relationships and the apprehension towards sharing hidden pain; in fear of acknowledging your reality.Alongside the song, an assortment of media that explores these same concepts through visual mediums have been gaining notoriety as a strong way to entrance a listener, whose experience grows and progresses as the media gradually reflects upon the story between the tracks.” - SODA

To celebrate the release of their brand new tune, the SODA lads will be hosting a mini-festival H2NYB (aka - How to Navigate Your breathing) in Adelaide, bringing bands from Victoria and South Australia together for a celebration of the last few months of their artistic live project, and what is still to come. But even if you can't make the live show, pop a bottle of SODA into your ears and enjoy the ride, When The Warden Calls is out now!
