SINGLE REVIEW: Relocate (WING DEFENCE)

SINGLE Relocate // ARTIST Wing Defence

Pivot your toes to tappin' and dip into some 90s alt rock flair as Adelaide duo Wing Defence go on the charm offensive with their latest indie rock gem Relocate that dropped late last week.

Already well-versed in dishing out zesty charm with their distinctly Aussie pop punk, Wing Defence bring a fun flourish to the indie realms with their simplistic yet sharp textures powerfully blending with poignant lyricism and bubbly undertones. And while the pair have already experienced a heap of attention with festival appearances in their wake as well as signing with European label Block 7, Wing Defence's latest track Relocate carries gritty riffs and splashy beats with vocals harking back to the female greats of 90s alt rock.

“This song is about relocating your negative energy into positive things rather than letting the loneliness of that energy consume you and make you bitter. Wing Defence is fundamentally a band about shedding light on common struggles, on adult life and finding ways through. Looking for positivity and lifting each other up - through our music we’ve bonded, grown up and taught each other lessons.” Wing Defence

Recorded at Adelaide's Ghostnote Studios, Relocate offers a percolating glimpse into what's to come on Wing Defence's upcoming debut EP Friends due out Friday July 3rd - and if this track is any indication, there's a whole lotta punch and personality ready to ignite at the hands of Wing Defence next month. Offering a brief respite from the bleak surrounds of 2020 right now, Friends promises a slew of uplifting themes and self-discovery ready to brighten your day and tap your toes in a raw and comforting fashion. But for now, grab a listen above of the new tune, and keep your ears out for more imminent things from this awesome duo very, very soon.

WING DEFENCE WILL BE UNLEASHING THEIR DEBUT EP FRIENDS ON JULY 3, AND KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR SOME EXCITING NEWS FROM THE DUO IN THE COMING WEEKS. FOR MORE INFO, HEAD HERE.
