Sin gets a slinky revamp from Brissie blues rockers Don and the Mobsters and their brand new tune Pure Sin officially due out next week (with a hometown live show to follow on December 14th).
Spending the year in studio lockdown working on their debut album (under the guidance of producer extraordinaire Bryan Short of the Sunset Junkies), Don and the Mobsters are closing out 2019 in wanton fashion with the first taste of new material from their upcoming album.
Injecting slinky basslines, chunked-up guitars, driving rhythmics and voluptuous vocals courtesy of frontwoman Donnelle Brooks, Pure Sin serves up raw and raspy blend of blues, rock and just a touch of funked-up soul as the Brisbane quartet continue to capture their raucous live show energy into their recorded material.
Covering the potent allure of "those" people and moments who can't help but bewitch in lieu of better judgement, Pure Sin is a perfect representation of what this lot are about; riffs, raw pizzazz and some fierce rock and roll that'll rattle some eardrums along the way.
"This song is about people that talk the talk but don't walk the walk. We've all met someone who has big things to say about themselves but when it comes to the crunch they can't follow through. Opening with a big fat riff, the guitars are really over the top. Tristan (our guitarist) tends to be a bit more held back in his playing style, and we had to really push him to go for it. He was a bit bashful when he listened back, but he agreed it sounds badass. Our drummer didn't need the encouragement, he just went for it and there is one drum fill at the end of the song that makes me giggle with delight every time I hear it." - Donelle Brooks
Previously releasing two singles in 2018 (and gaining a #9 spot on the 4ZZZ Hot 100 in the same year), there's undoubtedly a heap to get excited from this lovable pack of mobsters in 2020 - but for now, go grab a sneak peek at their brand new tune Pure Sin exclusively below before it drops next Monday.
