SINGLE: Unbroken // ARTIST: The Butterfly Effect
Emerging from a chrysalis of breakups and tentative reunions, Aussie alt-rock veterans The Buttefly Effect officially return to their former glory with the triumphant new track Unbroken that spun into our airwaves this morning.
With over a decade in between new material from the original lineup of Kurt Goedhart, Glenn Esmond, Clint Boge and Ben Hall, the anticipation for new tunes from the Butters Boys has been palpable to say the least. Last recording together for their previous full-length Final Conversation of Kings in 2008, the ensuing professional and personal terrain traversed by The Butterfly Effect in the many years since may have faltered many a band; but as evidenced by the anthemic newie Unbroken, time has not wearied them - in fact, it has embolded, empowered and brought new levels of sonic empathy to the already burgeoning TBE arsenal.
Bearing all the usual suspects for a Butters track, including maudlin melodics, spiraling riffs and glossy basslines, Unbroken wraps the resounding poignant heaviness of The Butterfly Effect eons ago with polished sonic certitude and heightened sincerity. Sure, we've got the crushing breakdowns and gritty textures that endeared the Butters gents so swiftly earlier in the career. But what is perhaps most refreshing about this outrageously anticipated new chapter is the flitting glimmers of positivity amid the polished darkness and rigorous riffage. The impassioned cry of 'I'll get it right this time' truly comes to have more meaning with the unique backstory at play here, and if Unbroken is anything to go by - the Butters boys have certainly got it right this time, and they are well and truly intact in their brand new phase.
And another part of the Butters new phase is the announcement of their very own beer, teaming up with their favourite brewery, Green Beacon Brewing Co, to create an 'Amplified Ale', which will be available to enjoy on their upcoming (mostly sold out!) tour! The beer will also be available to purchase in bottle shops all over the country. The can for the 'Amplified Ale' is decked out in the very same shade of blue that adorns their "Begins Here" album cover.
THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT'S BRAND NEW TUNE UNBROKEN WILL OFFICIALLY BE AVAILABLE TO POUNCE ON THIS FRIDAY AUGUST 16TH, BEFORE THE BUTTERS LADS HIT THE ROAD IN A TOWN NEAR YOU STARTING NEXT WEEK. FOR MORE INFO, HEAD HERE.
