SINGLE: Bad Dream // ARTIST: Vancouver Sleep Clinic
Yesterday saw a sonic tornado of ambient bliss come to life with the ravishing new track 'Bad Dream' from Aussie electronic project Vancouver Sleep Clinic unveiling itself to the world.
Growing up in Brisbane raised on Fleetwood Mac and the Eagles, it wasn't until electronic singer-songwriter Tim Bettinson (aka, the man behind Vancouver Sleep Clinic) stumbled upon more modern artists like Bon Iver and Sigur Rós that musical magic really started to take shape.
Starting as a solo project in 2013, Vancouver Sleep Clinic began with Bettinson recording with just a keyboard and a computer, eventually uploading the song 'Vapour' online which quickly snagged thousands of plays and considerable attention. Fast-forward to 2019 and the Vancouver Sleep Clinic project has seen Bettinson work alongside Zhu, Wafia and the Grammy-award winning Al Shux (Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar), with his prior experience culminating in a divine new musical outing that cleaves moody production with soothing vocals into a mesmerising end product.
Signalling a slightly more acoustic version for VSC, 'Bad Dream' is ultimately anything but, with saturated arrangements that transfix and transcend and ultimately prove why Bettinson has garnered so much attention at such a young age. This is one dream you'll be remembering for a long time, and there ain't nothing bad about it.
