As a general rule, very few things genuinely get better with age. Maybe that bottle of whisky hiding in the cupboard or the bottle of red growing a layer of dust in your wine rack, but across the board, aging can tend to diminish certain things we loved about our youth. But last week a band who helped define metal music for a generation in the late 90s and early 2000s roared back into view once again, with Sunk Loto proving that their recent return to music hasn't been a one-off novelty; they are armed with some of the best material of their entire career. Unveiling the blistering new track God Complex last Friday, it's abundantly clear that Sunk Loto's earlier stalwart reputation was no fluke, with the latest track showcasing a perfect mix of razor-sharp guitar-work, propulsive drums and bass-lines, and the gripping Jekyll and Hyde-like potency of frontman Jason Brown's clean and harsh vocal dexterity.

Every band member is tuned in to 11 throughout God Complex, with vigorous. lashings of modernity fused into the tried and true Sunk MO. And with melodics to make you weak at the knees oscillating between pummeling brutality, God Complex also boasts a rare feat as being one of the heaviest tracks the band has ever released; and that's saying something for anyone who has been following the Sunk journey for decades.

"2024 has not been without its challenges for us working to get music out to our fans, but we are extremely excited to be on the other side of that now starting with finally releasing our new song God Complex," shares the band. "This one sees us throwing down with some of the heaviest sounds we’ve ever done and shows the best of what we do wrapped up in one song. We know we made you wait a while for this but we’re sure it’s going to be worth it." - Sunk Loto

Also with some standout production courtesy of Forrester Savell and engineering by Luke Palmer, God Complex also arrives with the confirmation that the band are currently working on a new release. And if The Gallows Wait and now God Complex are any indication of what's to come, we are in for something that may even exceed the groundbreaking status of their 2003 opus Between Birth and Death; an album that is still considered as one of the most important heavy Australian albums of all time.

For now, the band have kicked off a Patreon where you can keep up to date with all things Sunk Loto, including a monthly podcast and plenty of behind the scenes sneak peeks here.
