MUSIC NEWS: Saddle up! Alt-county king Mat Black gears up this week to unveil his debut LP

LAYING BARE SOME BROODING SINCERITY AND CREAMY ALT-COUNTRY, MELBOURNE SINGER SONGWRITER MAT BLACK IS SET FOR A HUGE WEEK WITH THE RELEASE OF HIS DEBUT LP TRUCKER CAPS & HEART ATTACKS THIS FRIDAY - AND A LAUNCH SHOW TO CELEBRATE NEXT WEEKEND.

After spending years trying to find his musical way, Mat Black finally arrived in his sonic skin back in 2017 when he focused on the recording of his debut solo EP One Man Ghost Town, solidly introducing his tendencies for poignant reflection and immersive energy. Fast forward to 2019 and Black has furthered his darkly engaging alt-country ways, harnessing every set-back and hurdle into an absorbing outing with Trucker Caps & Heart Attacks due out this Friday September 13th.

Covering everything from slinky blues to gritty country-rock, Black's debut full-length is a deeply personal showcase of powerful restraint and commanding control that covers love, loss and longing with a steady hand and a country soul. This ain't no show pony flashing his wares amid splashy arrangements and gaudy theatrics; rather, this is a genuine vehicle that'll satiate perhaps even those who don't normally find themselves drawn to the twangs and licks of the country world.

Trucker Caps & Heart Attacks will officially release this Friday, but in the meantime you can check out Black's lead single Diamond Mine (co-written with Golden Guitar winner Lachlan Bryan) below - and if you happen to be in Melbourne this weekend, you can also check out Black live in action with his dynamic band on Sunday September 15th at The Spotted Mallard.
