LIKE PRAWNS LEFT OUT IN THE SUN, MELBOURNE INDIE ROCKERS THE MEAN TIMES GO OFF (IN A GOOD WAY) WITH THEIR SOPHOMORE EP 'RAW PRAWN' OFFICIALLY DROPPING TOMORROW.
As much a love letter to 90s rock and uncooked seafood as it is stylistic anarchy, The Mean Times hit raw and rocking heights with their brand new EP, significantly shedding their earlier synth-fuelled power pop tendencies seen on their debut 'You've Got the Wrong Guys' and going full steam ahead into more assured waters.
Embracing a whole horde of influences from raw rock, punk and soul, 'Raw Prawn' catapults your ears into a 5-track journey that brushes with polished lofi, soaring riffs and the occasional sassy brass that shies away from more superficial thematics and steers into musings on approaching mid-life and learning how to adult (which reminds me, I need to pay my rent).
Partially recorded at home and primarily engineered and mixed at Rolling Stock Studios in Melbourne by Nao Anzai (Cash Savage and the Last Drinks, NO ZU, Kim Salmon) and mastered by Mikey Young, 'Raw Prawn' retains a level of boisterous garage rock, while exploring enhanced sonic territory, as the band explains:

If he likes something he will nod with stifled sensei-like approval and it makes you feel like you’ve finally achieved something in your life.
